Adjust Size Swelly Belly Band
I added basic comments about the Swelly Belly Band but know that one of the questions we get frequently is how to select the right size and once you receive it, how to adjust it.
Sizing: The band comes in three sizes (in each style of horizontal or vertical)Â
Princess: Comfortably fits 31 to 42 inches
Extra Princess: Comfortably fits 42 to 52 inches
Queen: Comfortably fits 50 to 58 inches (add $5.00 to price)
Notice that the sizes overlap each other and can be confusing if you are 44″ or 50″ or even 52″.
The Swelly Belly Band is an adjustable band which uses velcro for closure. You can adjust the band to the size you need using the velcro. Because the velcro is used for adjusting the band to fit you snugly and because each band has elastic in the “arms” or ends of the band, you can stretch the band around you, velcro it closed and it fits around you.
Generally we suggest customers purchase the smaller size when confused by the sizing. This makes sure the band will fit across your incision and stay in place. If your band is too large (but not by much!) there are a few quick tips to adjusting it.
The easiest is to tie a knot in one side or both sides of the “arms” or ends. Adding a knot takes up length of the band, shortening it for you. If you are a stitcher and have a sewing machine or a needle and thread, you can take up the length of the “arms” by an inch or two. Other customers have reported using safety pins to adjust the length of the band.
Another question we get is: “Should I order my Swelly Belly Bandâ„¢ to fit me *now* or should I expect to swell up so much that I will need the next size up?”
Usually a post hysterectomy tummy will swell but rarely have we heard of anyone that needed the next size up. But of course, if you order your band for the possible swelling and you discover its too large, adjust it as mentioned above.
Returns or exchanges? If you found that you ordered a vertical and need a horizontal or that you ordered a Princess size and need an Extra Princess size, you can return them IF they are new, unused and never been hydrated/wet. We are happy to make the exchange for you. Your only charge will be for shipping. Make sure you read the HysterSisters Store Return Policy.

Sorry, but still not sure which size to order. I am 44″ at my largest swelly/belly point. This will probably go down as recovery progresses. I am almost 4 weeks po from TAH/BSO.
Thank you for your help!
